Kaple sv. Floriána
Již více než dvě stě let dominuje koryčanskému panoramatu kaple svatého Floriána.
V létě roku 1712 vypukl v jednom domku poblíž náměstí požár, který se rychle rozšířil a padla mu za oběť většina stavení na náměstí včetně kostela a dřevěné fary. Majitel panství, poslední z rodu Horeckých, dal postavit na nedalekém kopečku kapli, kterou zasvětil patronu hasičů, svatému Floriánovi. Než byl opraven farní kostel, konaly se bohoslužby v této kapli. Zařízení kaple bylo jednoduché. Nad skromným oltáříkem visel obraz svatého Floriána, dílo Josefa Hromádky z Litenčic. Na stěně svěcenka, kříž a několik drobných reprodukcí. Navíc zde bylo uloženo devět železných moždířů, z nichž byly při různých slavnostech vypalovány salvy. Už během první světové války bylo od této tradice upouštěno. Zato po válce okolí kaple ožilo nebývalým ruchem. Ve stínu staletých lip scházela se tu mládež, která si zpěvem a družnou zábavou vyplňovala svůj volný čas. Od jara až do zadumaného podzimu nesla se do ulic tichá píseň mládí jako ukolébavka těm, kdož na zápraží svých domů po celodenní práci odpočívali. Posléze se zde konaly bohoslužby jen v den svátku svatého Floriána. Kaple stojí ve stínu staletých lip a její vybavení vedle skromného oltáře tvoří jen oltářní obraz sv. Floriána od Josefa Hromádky z Litenčic. V roce 2004, při příležitosti výročí 130 let místního Sboru dobrovolných hasičů v Koryčanech, byla kaple kompletně opravena a dne 24. července byla při slavnostní bohoslužbě znovu vysvěcena za velké účasti místních hasičů i občanů.
St. Florian’s Chapel
For more than two hundred years, St. Florian’s Chapel has dominated the Koryčany skyline.
In the summer of 1712, a fire broke out in a small house near the square, which quickly spread and destroyed most of the buildings on the square, including the church and the wooden rectory. The estate owner, the last of the Horecký family, had a chapel built on a nearby hill, which he dedicated to the patron saint of firefighters, Saint Florian. Until the parish church was repaired, services were held in this chapel. The chapel’s furnishings were simple. Above the modest altar hung a painting of Saint Florian, the work of Josef Hromádka of Litenčice. On the wall were a crucifix and several small reproductions. In addition, nine iron mortars were stored here, from which salvos were fired during various celebrations. This tradition was already being abandoned during World War I. After the war, however, the area around the chapel came alive with unprecedented activity. In the shade of centuries-old linden trees, young people gathered here, filling their free time with singing and convivial entertainment. From spring until the pensive autumn, the quiet song of youth carried through the streets like a lullaby to those resting on the porches of their homes after a day’s work. Eventually, services were held here only on the feast day of St. Florian. The chapel stands in the shade of centuries-old linden trees, and its furnishings consist, aside from a modest altar, only of an altar painting of St. Florian by Josef Hromádka of Litenčice.
