Nejstarší psané zprávy, které se přímo dotýkají našeho kraje, jsou teprve z roku 1131. V té době vládl českým zemím nejmladší syn Vratislava II. Soběslav I.. Krajina kolem dnešních Koryčan tehdy náležela ke kraji arcijáhenství břeclavského. Dějiny města Koryčany spadají určitě do mnohem dřívějších dob, než praví nejstarší dochované záznamy. Jisté je, že ve 14. století se nemalou měrou o stavební a kulturní rozvoj našeho města zasloužil Bernard zvaný z Cimburka, který se svou druhou manželkou Sabinou z Koryčan vyženil zboží koryčanské a dostal krajinu nedaleko Koryčan, kde si v chřibských horách po roce 1320 postavil jiný hrad - Nový Cimburk. Bernard dostal krajinu okolí Koryčan náhradou za hrad "starý" Cimburk nad Trnávkou u Moravské Třebové.

The Town of Koryčany

The oldest written records directly concerning our region date back only to 1131. At that time, the Czech lands were ruled by Vratislav II’s youngest son, Soběslav I. The landscape around present-day Koryčany belonged at that time to the Břeclav archdeaconry. The history of the town of Koryčany certainly dates back to much earlier times than the oldest surviving records indicate. What is certain is that in the 14th century, Bernard, known as of Cimburk, contributed significantly to the architectural and cultural development of our town. Through his marriage to his second wife, Sabina of Koryčany, he acquired the Koryčany estate and received the land near Koryčany, where he built another castle - Nový Cimburk - in the Chřiby Mountains after 1320. Bernard received the lands around Koryčany as compensation for the “old” Cimburk Castle above Trnávka near Moravská Třebová.
